Västerås is in the centre of the Lake Mälaren Valley just 100 kilometres from Stockholm. Trains depart to and from Stockholm every half-hour in the morning and evening and every hour for the rest of the day. Wide-ranging interurban coach services stop beside the travel centre at the railway station. The local buses also stop beside the travel centre.
Västerås’s airport is just a 15-minute bus ride from the city centre, with daily fl ights to Copenhagen and London and charter services in the summer. The road network is well developed in and around the city. There is motorway almost all the way from Stockholm, and from Örebro to Västerås.
